An icon on the bottom taskbar tells me that an update is ready to be
installed. Its SP2. When doing the actuall install, do I have to be on the
internet, or can I turn my wireless connection to the net off, because I have
to disable antivirus.

You must be connected to the internet, SP2 is
approximately 267Mb and depending on your connection
(dialup or broadband) will determine how long it will
take, on broadband or cable, DSL, the average times with
the actual installation of SP2 has varied between 45
mins. and 1-1/2 hours.
My tip to you, after this has been completed and you
reboot, do two things, one, Defrag, two, test every
application to make sure they are running, in some cases
you may need a patch from a specific manufacturer to fix
a non-operating issue.

Thanks for responding, I have a DSL connection. But I hate to be on the net
with my antivirus shut down. I heard that it is recomended to shut down
antivirus when installing SP2. Can i just delete that message (that an
update is ready) and go and get the CD? And how do i delete that automatic
message?

Hi Ulli,
You don't have to be connected to the internet to install SP2...I wasn't.
Since it's already downloaded and ready to be installed, disable your
ANTI-Virus and disconnect from the internet and install SP2. Good Luck!
