Can anyone tell me how to set up WIN-XP Pro as a DHCP server or if it is even
possible. All the help screens seem to point to DHCP client. Please reply to

thank you.

Windows XP does not support a native DHCP server. Only the MS Server OSs
include a DHCP server - Win NT 4.0 Server, Win2k Server, Windows Server
2003. There are third party products which claim to provide DHCP server
capability on Windows XP. Eg. - http://tucows.com/preview/265297.html

Really? I think either XP PRO or XP HE can be an ICS host and, as such,
be a DHCP server. ICS is a rather limited DHCP server, since the range of
IPAs is fixed, but it does use DHCP protocol to assign IPAs, yes?

In MS Speak ICS provides a DHCP 'allocator.' But yes, this is a limited
DHCP server. All client machines will have their default gateway and DNS
server set to 192.168.0.1. Sort of thought Brother Steven was looking for
something else.

To say nothing of the fact that ICS requires you to have two network connections
(or a modem and one network connection). You can't setup an ICS server without
two connections.
