View Full Version : Why does XP fight with every other program?

I have recently become the owner of an XP machine...Yuck!
Everytime I open Word I get errors, crashes, and notes
asking if I want to send the error to MS. Well I have,
but no one seems to be listening! Even my brand new
Norton's Systems Works 2003 says that it can't fix the
problems with XP.
I finally completely restored my computer to the
manufacturers specs, creating lots of time consuming
updates, have only reloaded Nortons and my scanner
program and XP still crashes.
Can anyone help me, please????
If you can I will be indebted to you for a long time, and
say really nice things about you to others.

It would be hard to fix whatever is wrong based on the info you have =
provided.
My best advice would be to take it back to where you bought it and have =
them rectify the situation.
It must still be under warranty and judging by your message you dont =
even have a XP Cd .If the recovery CD did not help it definitely is a =
manufacturers problem.

Was it a new computer bought from a retail store, or did you
get it used?

It sounds a lot like a hardware problem.

What do you expect? That there's someone at MS waiting until Sharon has a
problem and then they personally email her a solution? Sorry, love, but if
you're expecting that you're living in a fantasy world.

NSW has to be the biggest piece of garbageware ever released. You don't need
it. It causes more problems than it fixes, is a memory hog and usually only
a full format rids you of it for good.

Anyway, none of your problems are (probably - hard to say seeing as you give
us no information) XP related. Why are you not invoking the warranty? Go
back to your vendor and complain. This isn't MS problem.

And this isn't MS technical support, by the way, in case you thought it was.

First of all, note that your experience is very much atypical.
For the great majority of people, XP is the most stable version
of Windows ever. So recognize that whatever is causing your
problem, it's probably not Windows XP.

But it's very difficult to help you since you've provided no real
information about your problems. Please describe what version of
XP you're running, what hardware you're running it on, exactly
what you were doing when the problem occurs, and exactly what are
the symptoms of the problem, including the text, verbatim, of any
error messages you get.

Also consider the very likely possibility that your problems are
caused by unstable hardware. Since the computer is a new one, you
probably should bring it back to the store that sold it to you
and get them to fix it.
