I notice that there is an exception, "Remote Assistance."
Is this by default, or was it perhaps put there by the computer maker
(Gateway)?
I infer from the Help files that the safest thing is to allow NO EXCEPTIONS.
Would I be advised to remove this one or leave it in place?

Windows XP Default.
If you never get help from anyone remotely, disable it too.
Just remember you did it if you ever do ask for help remotely.

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.

Thanks for the info and the advice. I will remove that "exception," since
I'm not likely to ask for such help. I can reinstate it if I should,
however.
