I have a programme listed in ad/remove programmes. It shouldn't be there as
I have uninstalled it even from the registry. Can anyone advises how I can
remove it for good from my system?

Just click on it in the Add/Remove programs window. If you've truly
deleted the registry keys and uninstall info for the program, WinXP will
see that it's not there and ask if you'd like to delete that program
from the Add/Remove listing.

Hi Ian
Go to START, RUN, TYPE "REGEDIT" ENTER
When regedit window opens go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
In the left side of the window there is a list of folders if the program you
want to remove is listed then all you have to do is delete it.
If its not there then click on the folders that are named as numbers and the
contents will be listed in the right side window.
You can see a key called "displayName" and next to it the name of a program
that its associated with when you find the name you want, just delete that
folder from the left side.
All done

Thanks JSW that worked wonders. Roy I'm afraid your suggestion didn't. I
had already tried doing as you suggested and no joy, hence my posting.
All's well that ends well
