View Full Version : Office2000 problem after SP2

After installing SP2, noticed that all office documents show generic exe
icons (*.doc would still be opened with Word if I click on it, but icon does
not show that it is a Word document). Tried Tweak UI program suggested in
one of the postings for lost Office Icons, it did not work. Tried to do
"detect and repair", got message: "This patch could not be opened. Verify
that it exists, and that you can access it, or contact the vendor to verify
that this is a valid Windows installer package". Same message when I tried
to change or remove from Control Panel, add/remove programs. I would
reinstall Office if needed, but seems I cannot deinstall it.
Please help!

This has been noted before and there are several workarounds.

Kelly:
Thanks for answering, feel better that the problem is known. However, both
pages have a lot of stuff. Any more specific instructions, or a pointer to a
previous reply with instructions?
Regards and thanks once again
