I've been getting an extraordianary amount of SPAM in my email since
downloading SP2. I use Outlook Express but I cannot apply any controls since
they are all random. Someone told me they read where SP2 can cause this and
there is help. Can someone advise me? Thanks in advance!

The installation of SP2 has nothing to do with the amount
of spam you are receiving. Please read the following:

Sp2 has nothing to do with spam. Posting in newsgroups using your actual
email address does though!

Try Letterbox from this site. It's free and east to use.It previews your
email and has customizable filters etc.

Two hours after your original post and you still have not modified your real
e-mail address.

You can expect a much larger amount of spam because of this fact. These news
groups are trolled by automated "bots" looking for e-mail addresses to add
to their spam lists. Be assured that yours has already been included in the
lists.

Your "SPAM" problem is because you are "NOT" using a "MUNGED" email address
when posting to newsgroups. Spammers have what is called "mailbots" which
harvest email addresses, and those that are not munged are easy pickens.
I.E. see my email address for a munged address.

First, I don't know how to modify my address.
Second, my sister has the exact same problem and she never posts to
newsgroups???????

You need to "munge" your email addy like this;
instead of
add something to it like this
clfb@NO SPAMtampabay.rr.com (remove NO SPAM to email)
Or you can just use a fake addy;

Right click your NEWS server(NOT your regular email server)and click
properties to change the email addy.
This is what everyone is trying to, "so kindly" point out to you.
