After using Windows XP Pro mainly trouble-free for the
last 5 months, it now won't start at all.
The first time it happened it went from the "American
Megatrends" screen to a black screen with the
message "ntoskrnl missing or corrupt"
Now even this screen dosen't come up, instead it's just a
black screen.
What can I do - I have another computer up and running
and Win 98 boot disk if these are any good.

If all else fails you can do a Repair Install and 'shouldn't' lose any data
other than Windows Updates. Go here and check out "How to run a Repair
Install":
