View Full Version : SP2 reboot cycle

Since installing SP2 in my friend's system, it will not get past the initial
screen (no splash screen) and recycles all the way to that point.

What do I need to do to correct this situation.

BTW: This a fresh loading of XP to a newly formatted hard drive with all
known Xp updates and security issues installed BEFORE SP2

How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed
successfully:

Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.
If that fails, reboot tapping F8 again this time choosing Safe Mode.
Then System Restore to Date/Time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

Otherwise perform a Repair Installation:

When you are ready for SP-2, follow the Service Pack Installation

I too am having a Reboot problem after an SP2 upgrade, However I am not able
to run the "batch spuninst.txt" portion of the article (id=875355 ). I
have also tried to repair the windows installation and it still fails. I
have replaced the RAM and Vid Card. I am at wits end!

Thanks
