Hi. I recently installed Windows XP (not an upgrade), which somehow
installed Messenger along with it. That's fine, but now, whenever I make a
dialup connection Messenger automatically signs in. I don't want it to do
this and I can't find where to disable this. Thanks.

Greetings Tim,

The easiest way to correct this is to remove your Passport information from your Windows XP
account, so it can't automatically log you on. To do so, click the Start Button, then click
the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your account name,
and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network
Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click
'Remove'.
