Since upgrading Windows XP HOme to SP-2, certain pop-ups like a calender to
fill in a date appears and immediately disappears.
I have disabled the pop-up blocker supplied with sr-2.

And if you re-enable SP2's pop-up blocker?

Is Windows Messenger currently installed? Do you use it?

I don't believe messenger is installed. How can I check and how to disable?

I have removed (if it was installed), ms messenger. turning on or off
pop-up blocker has no effect. Holding down Ctrl key while clicking on
calendar button has no effect. Holding down Shift key while clicking button
brings up an error page with this in the address bar:
javascript:open_calendar(1). I am using latest version of Sun Java.

Go to Control Panel, open "Administrative Tools", open "Services",
scroll down and right-click Messenger, select "Properties". In the
drop-down window labeled "Startup Type", select "Disabled". Click
"Apply", then "OK", and back out of the windows you've opened.
