MSN signing in and out periodically...??

I've been having a problem over the last week or so (ever
since i upgraded to V6 actually) where I sign myself into
the messenger, and periodically I'm signed out without any
reason. This may happen 2 or 3 times every 10 minutes.

Usually I can only tell that I've been signed out when I
start to message someone, and then I find the whole
program closes and tells me I've been logged out, and I
have to resign in. Or I also get people telling to me to
stop signing in and out all the time, where I have no
control over it, nor am I aware exactly when it happens.

Could anyone please help me with this problem?

Here are a few suggestions that may help you fix this --

If you're using ZoneAlarm, try putting it into the "Medium" setting and then see if the
problem disappears. Other third-party firewall applications (like Norton Internet Security,
Sygate, etc.) should have Messenger set to 'Permit All' or 'Allow All'.

If you're using a router, make sure you have the latest firmware from your router
manufacturer. As well, you might try setting your computers local IP into the routers DMZ
setting (see documentation on how to do this).

This can also happen due to a lack of bandwidth. If you have Kazaa, WinMX, GNUtella or some
other file sharing-type application or something else that takes considerable amounts of
bandwidth, you may want to shut it down and see if that helps the situation (even if you're
using a high speed connection, these applications can use most of the resources of your
connection).

Finally, you might try using the old Windows Messenger (which should be installed unless you
removed it) -- if you can't find it, click Start, then All Programs, then Windows Messenger.
