XP SP2 Stopping both Web and Email traffic

I have one out of thirty desktops running XP SP2 that is having issues: This
PC works fine for a while, but then stops sending/rec'ing email through
Outlook from our local Pop3 server and can no longer load webpages. I turned
the Windows Firewall to OFF and rebooted, but the issues stayed. I finally
had to uninstall SP2 and it all worked again. Is there a control somewhere
that I may have missed? Thanks!

Check to make sure that Windows power management isn't allowed to turn
off the device when not in use. Find this option in the device's
Properties in Device Manager.
