Hi
What problem have you got with IE? Yes, try 'sfc' first. If that doesn't
work, try the following article:
"How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP"

Installing SP2 makes a folder Windows\ServicePackFiles to hold SP2
versions, and a pointer in the registry so that SFC looks to it first.
At worst that folder could have incomplete content, after using the
Windows Update method for SP2, when *if* you have added something that
would normally use an SP2 file, it might come asking for a Windows with
SP2 CD.
