Since I installed SP2 the only mode I am able to boot is in the normal mode.
No safe mode of any kind. In addition i am not able to start in recovery
mode either. Recovery mode is on HD. Have XP CD.
I noted that in another previous message, it was suggested to remove INCD.
Is it the right way?
Is there any other way?

Thanks
Andre

Hi

What problem have you got that necessitates starting your PC in Safe Mode?
Doesn't pressing F8 after a reboot work?

I haq the same problem and tech support(after working on it for a week). Told
me my system was corrupt and that I had to reinstall windows. Actually, they
had me reformat the hard drive and then reinstall.

Good luck,
David

That is typical of Tech Support. Burn out the grass with a flame
thrower to remove one weed.

If the trouble is not being able to get at the menu to select Safe Mode,
You can get into Safe Mode by Start - Run - MSConfig.exe and on the
Boot.ini page select 'SAFEBOOT', Exit - reboot to Safe mode. You will
have to run it again to change the setting back, once done.

If the trouble is that Safe Mode, when selected, will not boot, it
suggests a defective driver, probably Video, for the basic generic mode
- Safe Mode leaves out specific drivers. A run of /SFC SCANNOW may well
fix it by refreshing the system files

Thanks Alex - very helpful - Re-installed the recovery console from XP CD
after SP2 installation. Now have RC again.
Succeed to have safe mode tru msconfig only but sufficient.
