I am generally doing good with XP PRO SP2 since September but now things
differ. I updated my windows last Tuesday and ever since all my other
applications do not have internet connection any more.

I am behind a proxy server (from microsoft) and able to unblock all ports
for other applications such as Eudora, YM, Citrix, outlook - all working
fine. I downloaded and installed a few updates for office 2003 last tuesday
(there is no windows updates checked from the site as I did that regularly),
i can only use my browsers via the proxy. Other applications blocked.

Tried to reinstall my MPS client and/or turn the windows firewall off and
doesn't help. Noted that if I use a direct connection instead, everything
working fine with or without windows firewall.

I am not sure what happened during the success installation of office 2003
update. please help,

Shen

Further research showed that it failed with odsp.dll, an LSP component with
no author/version information. I am not sure when and how it's getting in but
network can't work at all without it.

some ini information shows:
[version]
signature="$CHICAGO$"
AdvancedINF=2.0
Provider="Aventail"
[odsp.dll]
file-win32-x86=thiscab
RegisterServer=yes
HandleLockedFile=yes

any idea on the replacement of this file? thank you,

shen

As it turns out that cisco vpn client 3.6.3 i installed on the same day put
odsp.all from aventail in place, i was able to remove it completely and bring
my ssytem back.

cisco vpn client v4.0.4 i tried doesn't have the problem. i am just glad
that i was able to straight it out after one week's recearch.
