Old Version Still Present

Hi

I downloaded Version 6 but after I installed it I noticed my old version was
still present. I cant find the old version in Add/Removve programs..how do I
get rid of it

what do I do..?

Greetings Peter,

You can remove Windows Messenger 5, but if you do, you will be preventing Remote Assistance,
Whiteboard, Application Sharing and any other applications that utilize Messenger from
working (or loading without problems). You can just disable Windows Messenger 5 by opening
it up, click Tools, Options, Preferences tab and unchecking 'Run Windows Messenger when
Windows starts'. As well, you can disable it further by going to Start, Control Panel, Add
or Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components on the left, uncheck Windows Messenger in
the components list and click Next >. Note: this is only available if you've installed
Windows XP Service Pack 1 -- if you haven't, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This
won't remove Windows Messenger, but it will let it stay out of your way, and allow MSN
Messenger to work properly.

MSN Messenger 6 is NOT a replacement for either WINDOWS Messenger 4.7 or 5..
Uninstall MSN Messenger 6, and then reinstate WINDOWS Messenger 5.. in this
way, you will retain all of the sharing features that WM5 has over the MSN
variant, and you will still have upgraded from the WM version that was
originally supplied..
