My kids (x4) all have their own accounts in xp
Professional. I am the only one with administrator
privilages. I installed the latest ver of messenger but
they are still running older version. How do I change all
of theirs without the hassle of making them administrators
and then installing the newer version one at a time?

Thanks in advance.

Hello John,

I'm not quire sure but you do have to install MSN Messenger manually to each
account. I know it's hassle but at least it can be then ;)

If anyone got any other ideas, please do reply back. I want to know too :)

Regards,
Jose Francisco

Greetings John,

Once you install MSN Messenger 6 (which is what I assumed you installed) on an Administrator
account, it will then be available to all users on the computer. However, MSN Messenger 6
doesn't upgrade Windows Messenger, and as such, the other users will still be defaulting to
that client. To correct this, go into each users' account (no need for them to have
administrator rights), open up the main Windows Messenger window, click the Tools menu, then
Options, then Preferences, uncheck 'Run this program when Windows starts' and click OK. Then
close Windows Messenger (right-click its icon in the notification area/system tray and click
Exit), and start MSN Messenger 6 (click Start, All Programs, MSN Messenger 6). Click the
Tools menu in MSN Messenger, then click Options, then General tab, make sure that
'Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows' is checked and then click OK. Now,
that user should have MSN Messenger 6 start and automatically sign in.
