I am using Win XP SP2. I want to use ZoneAlarm Pro for my firewall, but
when I turn off Win XP firewall the Security Center says the firewall is
still active.

I have turn off ZA Pro, and run GRC Shields Up and Norton Security Response.
Both show that Win XP firewall is still active.

How can I completely turn off Win XP SP2 firewall so it will not conflict
with ZoneAlarm Pro?

1 - check the setup of the windows firewall : connections, properties,
advanced...

2- check also the services runnings on your system :
start -> run : services.msc

The services Windows firewall AND Application Layer Gateway
must be stopped and set to manual not automatic.

Have a nice day :-)

Hi,
The Windows Firewall is poor. It only checks incoming connections to your
PC. Install a better stand-alone product and disable the Windows version:

Open Network Connections in the Control Panel. Right click your connection
and choose Properties, click the Advanced tab followed by the Settings
button in the Windows Firewall section at the top. Disable the firewall then
click Apply and OK.

Hope this helps.TDP.

Windows XP SP2 firewall is always active. It is active during boot up and
when it recognizes ZA Pro, it should transfer control to it. ZA Pro should
then show up in Security Center, unless you turn off the status sharing.
