A friend of mine has XP Home on his laptop and a dial-up connection. At work
he has DSL. He wants to update his laptop but the dial-up is prohibitive. Is
there a way to download the update to another computer then create a CD? I
told him there was probably a way to do that but I wasn't sure how. Thanks
in advance. Oh, I checked the MS update site. Ordering a CD takes
4-6weeks. Making a CD would be much quicker if that is possible.

Download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

or http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Ignore the phrase "Network Installation Package for IT
Professionals and Developers." It can be used by anyone.

Just order the free CD from MS, postage paid even.

I guess he could at that! Neither one of us thought about it. Anyway, he
has already downloaded the Network installation package and burned a CD on
his work computer. I'm assuming that running this app on a laptop will
install SP2.

That it will.
