Hi
I downloaded the SP2 from a C.D and everything seems fine except I can't
open any attachments from my emails. It worked perfectly before the
download. A box comes up with the following message: This file does not
have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an
association in the folder options control panel.
I have looked in the folder option and could not see anything that I could
do or understand what to do. If anybody has a solution it would be a great
help, otherwise I will have to uninstall the SP2 from my computer for it to
work properly. Thank you for reading this and any help would be very
helpful.

What mail program do you use?
What kind of attachments are they?

You can try this approach...
Save the attachment to the hard drive. Right-click on it. Click OPEN WITH.
Then click on CHOOSE PROGRAM (at the bottom of the list). Browse to the
appropriate program - for instance, WORD for .doc files - and double-click it.

I tried saving and opening and it worked but would take too long with every
attachment. I just remembered that I delete a virus today that I had in
quarantine as it could not be repaired. So have I deleted a part that I need
for opening attachments and how do I get it back to normal. I can't use
system restore as it was not working so I had to stop it and start it from
scratch about 30 minutes ago. How do I get the part I need to open
attachments in the normal way, any help please. Thank you

What program created the attachment?
You need to associate that program with that attachment.
Right click the attachment
Click "Open with"
Check the box to always use that program.

You also need that program or the reader for that program on your
computer, is it installed?
