I can not access my cd drive on my hp pavilion. Every
time I try to save backups or files it tells me the drive
is not ready. When I try to format the cd by pulling down
the file menu, there is no format command in the file
menu. I tried HP were not able to help. Two things 1. How
come there is no format command in the file menu of the
windows xp? 2. from some of the softwares I use how come
they can not find my cd drive? help please.

Hi Menelik,

Right-click the drive in Windows Explorer, select properties. Go to the
recording tab and make sure the line enabling recording on this drive is
enabled (checked).
