Mapping a Network Drive

Im using a VPN connection. I have verfied that the VPN
is connecting to the server. I then proceed to map a
drive. The mapping seems to work fine. Then I try to
open the drive and an error occurs saying that the
network drive can not be found. I did the same VPN
connection and mapping procedure to my Windows XP laptop
and it works perfectly. Why does the mapping work on one
machine and not another. What am I missing? Thanks for
the help.
