I am having trouble establishing audio between my XP sp1
pc and my friend who has a 98 pc.
We have both run through the audio set up wizard. We can
view video, text and file transfer but cannot get the
audio to work. My friend has zonealarm installed but we
have tried with it shut down as well as my xp firewall
shutdown with no joy. We did try net meeting and did get
the audio to work, but are trying to get Messenger to work
so we can include others who have this installed. I plan
to try the things mentioned in previous posts for my xp
machine, although I have succesfully made a pc-phone call
to somebody else with my XP firewall in place. If pc-phone
is working then shouldn't pc-pc work fine?
Is there anything we can try on the 98 pc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have exhausted
all my avenues and have reached the stage of complete
frustration.

Go to
http://petem266.tripod.com
Download the Instructions and files.

Ask the 98 user to replace the file (as mentioned on the INSTRUCTIONS
on my site) first. Usually the problem is on the 98 users rtcdll.dll
file ;-)
If you need to replace files on XP, disable system restore first so it
won't
over-write the file after you delete it with the same version.
