A friend just installed SP2 on a XP Home system, and now the boot time is
nearly 6 min. Any ideas what could be wrong? Would it be best to uninstall
the SP2 upgrade or would this just cause further problems? Beacuse he
didn't have DSL at home, I had him download the Network installation file on
another PC, make a CD and install from that. Apparently the upgrade
completed but something is wrong.

It's probably OK, but due to SP2 installing and deleting a large number of
files, the hard drive may be heavily fragmented. Run Defrag on all your
drives by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk
Defragmenter. This should quicken up your machine a bit.
