Do have have to have Win XP or above to see video with
Windows Messenger 5.0? I have tried to get LCS 2003 to
work with the Win Msgr 5.0 client with audio and video.
Audio works fine, but video will only work if the other
person has Win XP or above. I know for a fact that the
new version of MSN Messenger, you can see video on W2K
(haven't tried the others yet)
Is there any way of making Win Msgr 5.0 see video with Win
NT or W2K?

Greetings John,
The video support within Windows Messenger versions is compatible with Windows XP (Windows
Messenger or MSN Messenger) clients only. Although MSN Messenger has a 'Webcam' mode in its
latest version (6.0), this functionality is not in Windows Messenger. However, MSN Messenger
(running on XP) also has a 'Start Video Conference' option, which can be used with Windows
Messenger (it's identical to the 'Start Camera' option in Windows Messenger).
To get video with users on previous versions of Windows, you'll need to either use MSN
Messenger 6 or enable the 'Start Netmeeting' option within Windows Messenger 5 (which most
up-to-date older versions of Windows have built-in). To do so, close down Windows Messenger
(right-click its icon in the notification area/system tray and click Exit), then download and
run this .reg file:

After this, restart Windows Messenger, and you should now see 'Start Netmeeting' in Windows
Messenger.
