View Full Version : upgrading from ME to XP

Please, anyone out there:

I recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP. Now my CD
burner won't work. My sound is gone. My CD driver is
inoperable. My printer refuses all requests to print for
me. I cannot download my digital pictures anymore. I am
sure there are other bugs I haven't found yet.
How do I download new drivers? Both Gateway (my PC
manufaturer) and Microsoft both tell me to download the
proper drivers. However, neither takes into account my
three left thumbs and my inoperative brain. I cannot find
out which drivers to download and where they are.

Please help.

Thank you. David E.

Hi David,

Driver files are generally downloaded from the web site of either device
maker or the pc manufacturer (Gateway in this case). Without further
information, this is the best I can do.

As to the CD problems, see if this helps:

http://aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm, under section 7 - Problems - there is a link to
a patch that often resolves this problem
