View Full Version : (XPpro SP2) Windows Search hangs my PC

Since running the SP2 upgrade, when I click on START, SEARCH, FOR
FILES OR FOLDERS
My PC freezes and my only option is to Ctrl+Alt+Del and restart or hit
the power button - nothing else responds.

If I leave my PC for about 15 minutes the search window does appear,
but if I perform a search, even after about 30mins I'm still waiting
for any result.

PC is a 3 month old Dell Optiplex running XPpro SP2

I've run chkdsk and sfc /scanonce - nothing erronous reported in the
Event Viewer

I do need to use the search facility very often so any suggestions as
to how to recover ti would be much appreciated.

I've had a look at Kellys Corner and followed the routine there to
re-instll, but that didn't make any difference.

Thanks in advance

Pete
