Bottom line. Having the two applications with conflicting
features and OS support is Bull$^!#. Either unbundle
Windows Messenger from Windows or include MSN Messenger.
Voluntary unbundling helps get people like the EU and
Linux Cranks off Microsoft's back and allows for one
downloadable version of the messaging program. If you
need API hooks or features to support other things in the
OS, leave them in, but DON'T make them visible or
incompatible with the ONE Messenger program you
distribute. If you have to have multiple versions,
segregate by OS. Windows 98 users get fewer features than
2000 users who in turn get fewer features than XP users.
Purchasing the latest OS version and making sure it is
updated with the latest service packs should NOT make me
further behind in messaging features from someone who's
running Windows 98 Original but happens to be using MSN
8!!!!! BS BS BS BS BS!!!!!!!!! I don't want an answer
to this post, just a decent solution. Come on, spend some
of that 40 BILLION you have in reserves and do something
that actually involves common sense!
