In Internet Explorer I go to tools, internet options, programs, and am unable
to enter or select anything in the email configuration area. The region for
entry is blank and I cannot change it.

Outlook Express is my default email program and works fine.

Making Outlook Express the default e-mail client

In IE, if Outlook Express isn't currently configured to be your
default e-mail program when you click on an e-mail address link etc.
Open OE, go to the Tools menu and select Options | General tab. At
the bottom of the dialog box, press the Make Default button and press
OK.

Also...

Start| Run | Paste this in the box:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

Click OK.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

In IE, if you select Tools/Mail and News/read mail what
program open?

If you only have the programs installed by Windows XP then
your only email program is Outlook Express. If you install
some other email client, you should be able to select from a
list on the Advanced tab.

Outlook Express was not my default email program. It is now configured to
be. I still cannot enter this program in the box on Internet Explorer. It
is blank and does not allow a typed or selected entry.
