I'm getting a box with the message -- The instruction
at "0x1001bef" referenced memory at "0xab48abab". The
memory could not be read. -- every time I start Outlook
Express. Msmsgs.exe is in the title. This happens every
time I start Outlook Express. I have Windows Messenger set
to NOT run at start-up, but it has been starting fine when
I start Outlook express, until recently. I used system
restore and it started working again fine, have installed
no other software or hardware, and now it's back a couple
days later.

I have already searched MS KBs, and google, but nothing
related to msmsgs shows up. If anyone has information
about this error, I would appreciate a response. If you
have only theories, I already have plenty of those and
don't need any more. thanks

Greetings,

As a workaround for this, close Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg

Then restart Outlook Express to see if the problem has been resolved.
