I was running 4.7 then upgraded to 6.0
Now I have 2 versions trying to run at the same time. First one logs in then
the other one logs the first one out and logs itself on.
I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling 6.0 but it did not help. I have 2
icons for messenger in the sys tray, one for 4.7 and one for 6.0
How do I get rid of 4.7?????

have you gone into 4.7 and made sure it didn't start and automatically
connect?
Also, if you use outlook express, check there and remove the option to start
Windows Messenger.
I just installed 6.0 too but I can't get it to automatically start after a
reboot.

MSN Messenger 6 is not an upgrade for Windows Messenger 4.7.. Windows
Messenger 5 is the upgrade.. WM 5 can be downloaded at this site.. feel free
to uninstall MSN Messenger 6..

Greetings Scott,
MSN Messenger 6 is a separate application to Windows Messenger -- it does not upgrade Windows
Messenger.
You can remove Windows Messenger, but if you do, you will be preventing Remote Assistance,
Whiteboard, Application Sharing and any other applications that utilize Messenger from
working (or loading without problems). You can just disable Windows Messenger by opening it
up, click Tools, Options, Preferences tab and unchecking 'Run this program when Windows
starts'. As well, you can disable it further by going to Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove
Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components on the left, uncheck Windows Messenger in the
components list and click Next >. Note: this is only available if you've installed Windows
XP Service Pack 1 -- if you haven't, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This won't
remove Windows Messenger, but it will let it stay out of your way.
