I have now attempted to install SP2 on 6 different systems. All XP home
installs work fine.

All XP Professional systems exhibited the same symptom; after a day or so
(and a reboot or two), all "Network Connection" icons were missing.

In attempting to troublehsoot this symptom from Knowledgebase articles, I
attempted to access the Component Services admin tool. This tool crashed
when attempting to open the My Computer icon (app just closes with no error).

All the Pro systems are part of a domain, most have some VPN/Dialup
connections. All are different hardeware, including one VAIO laptop.

Has anyone else seen this? This has happened on EVERY Pro system so far?

Hi

Registering the following DLLS may help.

From Start/Run, run the following commands:

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\atl.dll

then

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\hnetcfg.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netshell.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netcfgx.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netman.dll

Then do a reboot.
