any help on shutting down MS Security.... running XP Pro SP 2.....

I do run McAfee Privacy Suite, Adaware, etc. as backups....

MS security doesn't seem to want to not run.... I have tried to disable the different options in OE and IE so that I control pop-ups and links in emails not MS Security

thanks

Hi

Try this:

Go to Control Panel>Security Center and click on 'Change the way Security
Center alerts me'. Change the appropriate options in there.

thanks... tried that, but....

all the 'green' buttons on the far right are 'ON'... i.e. Firewall,
Automatic Updates and Virus protection all on... the only one I am able to
turn off is 'Automatic Updates'...

reboot after changes didn't effect problem... still unable to click on link
in email.... MS Security blocks IE from opening page

any more ideas

Try posting to a McAfee forum about how to make your McAfee suite the default 'security center', lion.

contacted McAfee.... had no solution.... finally, un-installed McAfee..... shut down MS Security..... all 'OFF' ....then reinstalled McAfee Security/Privacy Center (virus and firewall included)..... seems to be a lot better... tried to go through all menus and select options they way I am use to..... still a couple of bumps on come pages, don't know why though...
