Does anyone know if SP2 needs the SP1 pack to be installed first. I ask this
because I had an upto date (Windows Update) computer and installed SP2 all
was fine, then after a format and re-install of WinXP, I installed the SP2
pack only, and my computer would take 50mins to re-start, (black screen). I
have looked on the Microsoft site and find a mild reference to your computer
being upto date first, but there is no importance placed on this. Any Guru's
out there who can tell me a definate yes or no to this question?

SP2 replaces SP1/SP1a in its entirety, therefore do not
install SP1 or SP1a before installing SP2.

Paul;
There is no need for any previous updates prior to installing SP-2.
So installing just SP-2 is OK.

Make sure you have the latest Windows XP drivers.
