slow printing with plotter

I wrote a programm, which sends preformated data to a largeformat plotter.
The plotter is connected with a usb to parallel cable.
I set the window printer (a generic printer) to "send data direct to
printer".
Now my problem:
The plotter don´t get enough data, when I want to print big files (posters
with pictures,
fonts and so on). The plotter stops printing when he get not enougth data,
and when he
has the data the printing is going on.
I noticed that the window - printing spooler sends to small "data packages".
Is there a solution? (Via a registry tweak?)
