Hello all.

I have a PC which is not connected to Internet, not even by dial-up.
A friend of mine has a PC with a fast connection to Internet.
My PC has XP-Home Edition, his has XP-Professional.

Question: is there a way to download the complete SP2 for XP-Home, to
his PC? Then put it on a CD or memory key, stick it in my PC and apply
it?

Thanks.

Eric

Hi Eric,

You can order one free from MS.
Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Or it can be downloaded from MS:
Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT Professionals and
Developers:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Thanks Bert.

I live in the Caribbean so the CD will take a long time to get here.
And I was weary of the "... for IT Professionals and Developers" version.
Can I use this version safely for my XP-Home PC, for sure?

Thanks.

Eric

Hi Eric,

It's the only one available from MS.
It should work fine.

Hi Eric,

Just to confirm this, I downloaded it and compared it with
the setup file on the CD and it is exactly the same.
So go for it. You may want to get the Free CD just to have
it on have thou.

Thanks Bert,

I downloaded it and burned it on a CD, WindowsXP ..... ENU.exe @277Mb
approx.
Next question: can I apply it straight, or must I first get up-to-date
with my Windows-updates (at least critical ones) before executing SP2?

Hi Eric,

SP2 has all but a couple of new updates. Install SP2 then
run
Windows Update.
