Hi,
I recently had to reinstall my system after unwanted ad/spyware problems.
After the basic install I got online and installed windows updates followed
by XP SP2. After SP2 is installed I have problems getting on my DSL.
Occasionally I can get my homepage to pop up with graphics missing, but after
that it won't let me go anywhere. I have tried disabling the firewall and
playing with the settings of the firewall. I would prefer to have the
firewall installed such that I can protect from future Spyware. Right now I
just want to be able to use the internet again more than anything. Any
suggestions?? I contacted verizon and they told me to try microsoft. Thanks!

Go to start/control panel/windows firewall under the exceptions tab there is
an add program button click it then browse to the .exe file for the browser
you are using. I.E. C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe.

I already had added IExplorer to the exception list, I went and retried to
double check...still doesn't work. When I open IE it sometimes will start on
the msn home page, but won't go past there. I also tried Mozilla firefox and
put it in exceptions and it still doesn't work from there either.

Try the comp.dcom.xdsl newsgroup. There's bound to
be many more instances reported there of your problem.
Or try groups.google.com for that newsgroup.

Amanda,
do you get the unable to open web page or do you always get your homepage
with no graphics? I had the problem I described mixed with your problem. I
have Verizon DSL which comes with free MSN subscription and found this
solution on Microsofts website.

Amanda,

I seem to be having the same problem with Verizon DSL. The DSL connection
works with my laptop, but not with my desktop pc. Have you been able to find
a solution to the problem? I have been on the phone with Dell, Verizon,
Linksys, etc. many times, nothing has helped. I even upgraded my operating
system to Windows XP and that did nothing to solve the problem.

Verizon seems to think I have a browser problem. I'm sending this message
through my DSL connection with my laptop, the desktop is DOA.
