enhancements 4.7 --> 5.0 / how to update

Hello,

I just realized today that a new version of WindowsMessenger has been
released (5.0). I have read here (
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/ ) that there are three
enhancements: Send Ink Instant Messages from a Tablet PC ; Filter out
instant messaging spam ; Turn off Windows Messenger notifications during
presentations.

Are these all changes from 4.7 to 5.0?
Will install.exe automatically overwrite my current 4.7 Messenger or do I
need to un-install that first? Any reasons to NOT update (apart from the
fact that version 5 apparently doesn't support plugins, which I don't use
anyway)?

Greetings Klaus,

Yes, Windows Messenger 5.0 will replace Windows Messenger 4.7 for you -- no need to
uninstall. If everything is working properly in Windows Messenger 4.7 (assuming you're using
4.7.2005 or 4.7.2009), there is no need to upgrade (if you don't wish to have those
features).
