You must uninstall SP2 and Hotfix KB834707 from your Windows XP Home Edition
before preceding with the upgrade. It is recommended that you either disable
or uninstall your antivirus program as well.

The error message indicates that you are trying to install an older
operating system than what you have installed. Even though you are trying to
upgrade to XP Pro.

Or better do the Upgrade with a Pro CD has has SP2 included - either a
retail copy that have been coming through with SP2 for quite a time now
(and say so clearly on the box), or has been made by slipstreaming an
existing CD with content of the full SP2 exe file

I had purchased the XP Pro upgrade from a large supplier. I had thought
about slipstreaming. I was not aware you could do that with an upgrade
product. Cool.
