Does Windows Messenger 5.0 have the email notification
feature that 4.7 had? When I receive new email I am not
notified as I once was. Thanks.

Greetings Perry,
No, the notification of Hotmail e-mail has moved exclusively to MSN Messenger. If you prefer
to have it again in Windows Messenger, you can simply downgrade to Windows Messenger 4.7.
To do so, click Start, then Run, type (or copy/paste) the following:
msiexec.exe /x {ABEB838C-A1A7-4C5D-B7E1-8B4314B10138}
and then click OK.
Then, you can reinstall Windows Messenger 4.7 from here:
http://g.msn.com/5meen_us/121?plcid=0409
After installing Windows Messenger 4.7, you'll need the MSN Add-In (Add-Ins are not supported
in Windows Messenger 5):
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/addindownload.asp
