I have the same problem. Just installed SP2, I have the Soundblaster Audigy
2, now with no sound! I uninstalled the SP2, then tried to reinstall windows
media player based on a potential fix from another
website:(http://www.techsupportforum.com/archive/index.php/t-13926.html)
This didn't work. Any suggestions??

Also, the error message I get when I double click on the volume box in the
system tray is:
"Unable to detect any series of Soundblaster soundcards. The application
will exit."
However, my sound card is visible in device manager, and it says it is
working properly. However, when I use Creative's troubleshooting tool, it
fails because it too cannot locate my soundcard!
Thanks,
Jim

Hi,
Have you tried just going into the device manager(right click 'my
computer'-select properties-then hardware tab-then device manager), then
remove the audio device(in device manager go to Sound, video and game
controllers look for your audio device-right click then select uninstall).
Then scan for hardware changes by right clicking on 'sound, video and game
controllers' and select scan for hardware changes, then allow it to reinstall
itself? this seemed to work for me everytime my sound goes out.
