Actually, what you probably want is to leave them hidden.
You would then go into Folder Options/View, and set the "Hide protected
operating system files" and clear the "Show contents of system folders"
checkboxes. You can also select the "Do not show hidden files and folders"
radio button.

I recommend clearing the "Hide file extensions for known file types" box so
that you can tell what a file is (particularly if it is an executable, so that
you don't mistakenly execute something that you don't want to, like viruses
that someone sends you with things like a .txt.exe extension).
