Have you tried the site below? It was addressed in that
forum. I had the same problem. I disabled the QoS packet
scheduler and it worked. They also pinned the posible
problem to the Intel NIC that comes with new computers.
Dell also has a users forum that addresses this same
issue.

My NIC is a Intel(R) PRO/100 VM Network Connection, Driver ver. 6.1.3.0

Are you using Port Forwarding ?
I read something about
1863-1863 TCP/UDP
5190-5190 UDP
6891-6900 TCP
6901-6901 TCP/UDP

Hi,

Port forwarding on a WRT54G will just stop it from working -- Messenger requires these ports
and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) ot open them.
