Every time I try to open a file that requires Adobe Reader the Windows
Installer pop-ups and says it is installing windows messenger 5.0. After
that it seems to be stuck in a loop and the only way I can get out is to turn
off my computer. Anyone know the fix for this?

Susie

Greetings Susie,

To correct this, click Start,then Run, and type the following:
msiexec /x {1F0BD960-6525-4FEE-B577-2473F77F1277}
then click OK.

Then, after uninstallation, reinstall Windows Messenger 5.x from:

How about an enterprise fix? Got anything better?

Hi Bret,

I'm afraid not; I think they're doing work to fix this with Adobe.

That's as may be, but this problem is more than just Adobe Acrobat. We
are also getting it with Outlook 2003 when copying and pasting certain
data into emails. Uninstalling and reinstalling Messenger (using msiexec
/X) works, but this isn't a good enterprise solution.

I think Microsoft may want to look internally for a solution on this
one... ;-)
