Don't think so, it's either SP2 or it's not........

Build a time machine and go back in time. Eval copies of
Windows XP pre-date SP2.

Invest in a computer company and become your own OEM, then
buy some from MS.

But you can get a free complete XP SP2 CD that will update
all versions of Windows XP, MS even pays the postage. This
is not an install CD eval, it is just an service pack
upgrade.

Who are you talking to?
Please quote the post you are replying to, as is Usenet custom.

Thankyou.

I assume you were talking to me, but since you snipped the
previous post.

I know what you want, you want a free copy of Windows XP
with SP2, which means you want a current version. You don't
want to pay for it because you're cheap. MS did issue eval
copies years ago so software authors could work with and
develop XP compatible software. That process stopped years
ago, hence my reference to a time machine.

I did tell you how to get SP2 on a CD, for free, which is
better than a eval copy that has a time limited EULA.

since i have a eval sp1 copy next to me and i know mce 2005 has a eval also,
the refence to a time machine is ignored

i have a legit copy of xp, so the attack on me is also ignored since all
your trying to do is make a fight.

Thanks for your time!

note i didnt ask for a sp2 upgrade cd.

Eval CD were not ever intended to be upgraded, slipstreamed
or have in infinite life. It has expired, died, and it is
thus time to BUY a retail CD.
The fact that you have an eval CD means that either you were
at one time a software developer for MS and you have
forgotten how to contact MS or somebody gave or sold you
software illegally.

I do hope somebody can help you.

<plonk> means he's set his newsreader to ignore any more posts from
you, he won't see them. You've been added to his killfile or plonk
file as it's often called.

The hostile tone of your replies is what has earned you this treatment,
you might try and be more courteous in the future.

They may be available in some Microsoft Press books, I am not sure if they
have updated to SP-2.
However it seems you actually need to buy Windows XP since apparently you
have exceeded the intended purpose of the evaluation versions.

Search the sources you used before.
Check the Microsoft Press books to see if those evaluation versions now
include SP-2.

You may need to contact Microsoft.

If you call MS or read the EULA on the CD, you'll see that
it time limited, after all, it is distributed for the
purpose of evaluation prior to purchase. Now that XP is a
well marketed retail product, the RTM version is soon to be
dropped from support, and the OEM and large corps have
finished their evaluations, the only eval versions would be
the long awaited Longhorn.

An eval version is legit for a limited time and purpose..
You can find your EULA for the installed eval version by
opening Windows Explorer/Help and clicking on the About
Windows link. On that page you'll see a link to YOUR EULA.

If I was a computer techie I might be earning a living. I
don't work for MS and although I support Bill Gates as a
businessman, I wish he supported the rights of the American
and other citizens around the world who have a right to keep
and bear arms. Mr. gates has spent his money to harm my
rights. But as an old geek, pilot, NRA member and American
citizen I choose to follow the law, rules and ethics as much
as possible. BTW, things only come out of my ass and you
and I really don't want to have any interaction with that.

BTW, where were you during the rest of this thread?

Why, because you were not told that it is OK to use a 120
day eval forever, for any use and you are unhappy because
your old eval copy doesn't entitle you to updates. You can
subscribe to the program and get eval copies. But you want
"free" and absolution for your sins.

BTW, I'm not an MVP, but I think they are quite useful.

You are doing something wrong, either re-subscribe to the
TechNet service, contact MS corporate hq and arrange a
license as an OEM, or buy retail or OEM media. Read the
EULA on the media you now have. You asked a question and
didn't like the answer, so you asked again. And again. And
you began the rudeness when the answers you got did not make
you happy.

If you are running an eval version of XP in any production environment
you will not be able to install SP2 and should get a legitimate non-
eval copy and install it. They were provided for *evaluation*, not
production use and most are time bombed

Yes, kind of. Why would there be an evaluation CD of SP2? Just download
the file (Ok, a fairly long download if you do not have a fast
connection) and install it. Then uninstall it if you are not satisfied.

Ok, then may be if you clarified why you would need an "eval sp2" cd
when you already have a legit XP CD, then may be you would get more
satisfying answers ... Or may be what you actually need to make a
"slipstream" CD with SP2.

Let's see, YOU know you got your eval version at an
invitation only TechNet seminar. Therefore you should know
that you have to subscribe to the TechNet service.
YOUR questions were unclear about what you have and what you
want, everybody read that you wanted SP2, the unknown part
that was poorly stated by YOU...
You have an eval copy of XP and you say you have a legit
copy of XP, IS THIS two different copies of XP? Eval copies
expire after 120 days, retail copies don't.
I can read very well, but I am not very good at guessing
what you want and guessing at your motivation and intentions
unless you are able to expand your question beyond a "I
want..." that is simply repeated again and again.

You have been told by everyone that eval copies expire and
are of limited use. I even did a few minutes research and
found some TechNet pages that directly addressed your
apparent question, Not only did I post the link, I copied
the pertinent text.

I think I will stop any further comments, perhaps block this
thread.

you assumed that im doing something criminal. yes i have 2 copies one xp pro
retail which i upgraded to sp2 (i even slipstreamed it) and one sp1 eval.
(which wont slipstream). thus i would like to get a new copy

no guessing needed you assumed i was a criminal that is just your nature.

it was a very simple question with a simple answer .

ill repeat Does anyone know where to get a sp2 eval cd.

If you've already upgrqaded to SP2, then why in the hell do you want an eval
(which needs to be obtained from technet). You have been very unclear here,
and have gotten patient kind answers to your obtuse questions. Since you
just stated you have SP2, an SP2 eval is a moot point, and you should be
ignored totally for any further assistance!

Not nature, using logic!

Apparently, you seem to be the only one understanding your intent in this
thread, that should be indicative that you obfuscated your entire intention
here.

Well, go somewhere else and search, since you have more time to flame others
for giving you answers to your vague questions.

I, for one, did not accuse you of any wrong-doing. The only thing
I accused you of was rudeness.

And that you were. It's not wise to look for help and be rude to
those trying to help you. It turns *everyone* off, not just the
person you're rude to.

You don't need to clarify anything. You've already clarified the
only thing of importance here--that you are rude to those trying
to help you.

To repeat--that's a not a way calculated to get you the answers
you need.

Your question.

But, what is *not* hard to understand is your rudeness and your attitude.

An MVP is NOT a business agent for or a spokesperson for MS.
It is not tech support. How did you get invited to the
seminar where you were "given" the eval copy you have now?
Get invited again and maybe they will have an SP2 eval for
you, if you ask nicely.

Juan;
Just because the answer is not what you wanted does not indicate badly on
this newsgroup.
Often the solution is pointing the person in the correct direction.
You have been given several possible solutions seemingly ignored by you.

It has been suggested you contact Microsoft, your original source, purchase
books as well as other options, most you seem to ignore perhaps because the
answers are not to your liking.

i was given no posible answers, i was given attacks on my creditbility. as
for my original source i got it (sp1 eval) at a micosoft confence, which i
told you i couldnt attend this quarter. so thanks for not reading and just
assuming. even if i did get one i was looking for 8-10 copies for demo
machines.

the possible solutions were not valid solutions to the "sp2 eval cd". i was
not looking for a sp2 upgrade cd. a link to a 2000 termanal server issue was
not a sp2 eval cd. the endless baiting by you was not a sp2 eval cd.

sorry for my rudness but i spent time searching the website and couldnt find
i hoped that posting this topic to get knowlegable people to help out. sorry
for wasting you valuable time.

How do you contact MS to reserve a space at the next
conference? Maybe you could use that method and request a
CD? In effect, at all large corporations, each division
works best when you contact the correct office. A newsgroup
that is only related to the business because the company
provides the bandwidth is not the path to contact the
business side of a department.

Everybody tries to give the best advice we can, but
everybody here (the newsgroup) is an unpaid volunteer (there
are some actual MS employees too, but not necessarily in the
know about what you want). If you are looking for a
business relationship with a company, direct contact with
the company's business offices usually works best.

Juan,

When are you going to realize that there isn't an WinXP SP2 eval CD. If
there is you can get it through Technet.

Since you rebuke all attempts at reason, perhaps you should go back to =
the source that informed you there is such a download and find out =
there? Obviously you and that source know more than anyone else.

Happy Holidays,

If you know there is an SP2 val CD, then why ask here? go the source that
told you there was one and leave this NG. It appears that none of the
answers here are of your liking.

Please, leave the NG Scrooge. No one likes you, at least I don't and there's
not many I don't like but you are one of them.

Plonk!!!!
