i have a serious problem. i just brought a windows xp for
installing on my comp. what happened was that half way
thro the process there was a prompt telling me which of my
software wouldnt work after installing xp.since the list
was pretty long and included both software and hardware i
made my exit. what can i do to make these programs like
norton 2003 and media player work even after i upgrade.can
i get free upgrades for these programs as well. or will i
have to cough up more of the stuff.

Greetings,

Norton (most products) 2003 will work on Windows XP, you'll probably just need to uninstall
it and then reinstall it once Windows XP is installed. You'll have to look specifically into
everything in the list (if you don't want to take the plunge and just install it).
