I haven't installed SP2, however I notice that if I check for "windows
Update", nothing is identified except for SP2... Does anyone know if any new
updates have been created by Microsoft lately...
Thanks

Are you saying that the only update for your computer is SP2? In that
case, you're current up to SP2. There have been updates, but IIRC they
are to SP2 components. After you update to SP2, you will get new
updates.

This is probably a stupid question, but I am about to reinstall Windows XP
Professional from scratch (which I think has SP1 bundled with it - but I'm
not sure), and I was wondering if all I needed after that is SP2, that it
encompasses every update since Windows XP Professional 'the original' (or do
I have to download something between WinXP Install and SP2?)

SP-2 includes all previous updates.
There is no need to install SP-1 or any other update prior to installing
SP-2.

SP2 is cuumulative: it contains everything that came before it. However,
there have been patches since SP2.
