After using the Search Companion, I get the following
error message when I try to delete multiple files.
Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source
file or disk. How can I delete multiple files?

Hi
'Cannot read from the source...' message means that the file/folder is =
no longer there - ie. it has already been deleted -unless you have a =
major glitch on your HD. The files that have that message - can you =
delete them individually - or do you get the same error message?

I can delete the files one at a time or go to the folder
and delete them. I only get this error message when I
highlight multiple files and try to delete them. If the
search companion fould the files, they should be there.

Hi
Agreed - if the files were found via search - they 'should' be there - =
unless deleted 'just' before the search was initiated. Puzzling - using =
the Ctrl key you 'should' be able select & then delete those files from =
multiple folders & hard disks/partitions. I've just tried deleting =
various files form my partitions, but haven't had any problems. Not =
sure what the problem could be ATM.

I've run into this type of error when I've selected a group of files
that contained a large number of file types that are monitored by system
file protection. They also happen to be located in places folders that
SFP/System Restore keeps an eye on.
Example: Deleting or moving a large number of installation packages that
were downloaded to the desktop. If I instead download those same files
to a drive that is not monitored or to a folder that is ignored by these
tools (such as My Documents), I never run into the "ghost" files or
error messages.
File work from the Search Results list adds "multiple locations" to the
mix. Besides SFP and System Recovery doing their background tasks,
Search will continually try to update the results list.
Usually if you just let a few seconds pass, the situation rights itself
automatically. If not, a quick Refresh (press F5) will update the file
listing to a current state.
