View Full Version : Windows XP SP2 Boots VERY slow

My problem:

Windows XP SP2 sits at the opening splash screen during boot for over 15
minutes (and counting). Once the system boots, performance is also very
slow (minutes to launch Internet Explorer, etc).

I regularly scan for Adware, spyware, viruses, etc.

Restorng to a previous restore point has solved the problem in the past.

Is there any way to view the boot process so I can identify where the system
is hanging during the delayed boot?

Thanks in advance for any help..

Don

The system could be waiting for DNS resolution (for it's LAN) and you might
speed the boot by using a Static IP

(net card properties, tcp/ip properties)
